Recitation of the Rosary: Thank you to Martha DelReal for leading us in the recitation of the Rosary before Mass each Sunday at 7:30 am.
Saint Martin of Tours, who is featured in in a niche behind the altar, is honored on November 11, a day of celebration he shares with veterans. St. Martin was born of pagan parents in an area that is now Hungary, raised in Italy and followed his father into the Roman military. As a young soldier, he encountered a beggar who was nearly naked and very cold. With his sword, Martin cut his cloak in half and gave half to the beggar. He became a monk, established the first French monastery near Poitiers, and was eventually named a bishop. A saint revered by Eastern Europeans, St. Martin died in 397 AD. He is usually shown on horseback and is considered the patron saint of the poor, soldiers and conscientious objectors.
